Putin reveals secrets of Russia's Crimea takeover plot

A trailer for the documentary was shown on state-run TV channel Rossiya-1
Vladimir Putin has admitted for the first time that the plan to annex Crimea was ordered weeks before the referendum on self-determination.
Crimea was formally absorbed into Russia on 18 March, to international condemnation, after unidentified gunmen took over the peninsula.
Mr Putin said on TV he had ordered work on "returning Crimea" to begin at an all-night meeting on 22 February.
The meeting was called after Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych was ousted.
Speaking last year, Mr Putin had said only that he took his final decision about Crimea after secret, undated opinion polls showed 80% of Crimeans favoured joining Russia.
The findings of these polls were borne out by the outcome of the referendum on 16 March, he told Russian state TV last April.

In a just-published interview, Okah described the president as timid and cowardly, The Nation reports.
Okah, who is currently in a South African jail, said he could hardly speak about GEJ without “saying something uncomplimentary”.
“I have met President Jonathan. I knew him though not closely when he was the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State. My cousin Chief (Diepreye) Alamieyeseigha was then governor.
“I had a meeting with Jonathan in Pretoria in 2007 when the late President Musa Yar’ Adua sent him to speak with me. He was accompanied by Chief Timipre Sylva. I have spoken to him on occasions.
“In one instance, he was traumatized emotionally by the attack on his country home which he was misled into believing I had a hand in. The last time I spoke with him was in April 2010 when he asked for my support personally. Since my recent arrest, I have had no direct contact with him.
“It is difficult to speak about President Jonathan without saying something uncomplimentary. I truthfully find him timid and cowardly. His discussions are unintelligible revealing a lack of intellectual depth.

Ukraine crisis: Poroshenko says peace deal in danger

Ukraine's president has warned that a deal to end the war in the east is in "great danger" after heavy fighting ahead of Saturday night's ceasefire.
Petro Poroshenko also accused Russia of "significantly increasing" its offensive despite the peace agreement reached in Minsk on Thursday.
The US ambassador to Ukraine tweeted a satellite image that he said showed Russian artillery near Debaltseve.
Shelling was heard in the rebel-held city of Donetsk early on Saturday.
Fierce battles are said to be continuing around Debaltseve - a strategic government-held town almost encircled by rebel forces - and outside the southern port city of Mariupol.
The BBC's David Stern in Kiev says that as the clock ticks down to the ceasefire, fears are rising that it won't be observed.
More than a dozen civilians are said to have died in shelling in eastern Ukraine on Friday.
It is unclear who was behind the shelling but both the Ukrainian military and pro-Russian rebels in the eastern Donetsk and Luhansk regions accuse each other of targeting residential areas.
Rebels prepare to head into battle against government forces near the town of Debaltseve - 13 February 2015 Rebel fighters have continued to besiege the government-held town of Debaltseve
The presidents of France, Russia and Ukraine as well as the German chancellor - who together clinched the agreement in the Belarusian capital - are due to discuss the issue by phone over the weekend.
The UN Security Council will also meet in emergency session on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the US has said it is very concerned by reports of heavy weapons coming across the border from Russia.
The US ambassador to Ukraine, Geoffrey Pyatt, also said on Twitter that Russian units along the border were preparing a large shipment of supplies to separatist fighters.
